Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA

Pour: Offwhite bubbly head, orange-amber cloudy body.
Nose: Typical American pale ale, pine, grapefruit, lychee, citrus, floral. Malty smell.
Palate: Thick on the tongue, oily even. Solid malt centre, with hops all around it. However, the hop did not take centre stage as I expected. Very smooth though.
Finish: Hint of bitterness at the end, but nothing outstanding.

This beer was underwhelming and unimpressive, with the hop bite not coming through. It is really well-balanced but without the assertiveness and bracing hop taste that characterised the 60 minutes. Not sure whether it is because the beer really tastes like this, or because I have kept it for too long. Maybe the truth is, I am evaluating this beer in the shadow of its 60 minutes cousin, which might be unfair to it. I will need to buy another bottle and drink it real fresh to confirm my tasting note, particularly since my experience of the 60 minutes is so positive.
